What Is It?
A QuickBooks clean-up is exactly what it sounds like: I go through your QuickBooks Online file, find what's off or missing, and fix it, so your books are accurate, reconciled, and current again.
That means looking at your past transactions, checking them against your bank and credit card activity, correcting categories, clearing out errors and duplicates, and tidying up how the file is set up. When I'm done, you have a trustworthy starting point instead of a pile you're afraid to open.
It's not a sign you did anything wrong. Books fall behind when business gets busy, or when a file gets passed from one person to another. A clean-up is how you reset.
Sound Familiar?
Your bank and credit card accounts haven't been reconciled in months, or ever.
Transactions are piling up as uncategorized, or there's a large amount sitting in your Undeposited Funds account.
Your reports don't look right, and you can't tell if last month was actually profitable.
There are duplicate entries, wrong categories, or a chart of accounts that has grown out of control.
You took over a file from a previous bookkeeper, or from yourself, and you don't trust it.
Your CPA keeps sending the books back with questions, or tax time is a scramble.
You're months (or years) behind and don't know where to start.
What's Involved
Every file is different, so I review yours first and tell you exactly what it needs. Depending on what I find, a clean-up can include:
Reconciling your bank and credit card accounts back through the period that needs fixing
Reviewing income and expenses and correcting the categories
Clearing out uncategorized transactions and "Ask My Accountant" items
Finding and removing duplicate or mismatched transactions
Cleaning up your chart of accounts, customers, and vendors
Checking balance sheet accounts, such as loans and assets, against reality
Setting up bank rules and automation so the file stays clean going forward
Getting everything organized and ready to hand to your CPA
How It Works
Contact me or give me a call. Your first conversation is free. Tell me what's going on with your books.
I take a look at your QuickBooks file and figure out how far behind it is and what needs to be fixed.
You get a clear, flat-rate quote for the clean-up. You'll know the cost before any work begins.
I catch up, reconcile, and correct everything, and you end up with books you can trust.
After The Clean-Up
A clean-up gets you caught up. Staying caught up is the other half. If you'd like, I can keep your books current month after month with ongoing monthly bookkeeping, so you never end up buried again. That part is entirely up to you.
Common Questions
It depends on how far behind you are, how many accounts and transactions are involved, and how much needs fixing. I review your books first and then give you a clear, flat-rate quote, with no hourly billing and no surprises.
Just reach out. After we talk, I'll look at your QuickBooks Online file and let you know if I need anything else, like bank or credit card statements, or answers about specific transactions.
Yes. Taking over a file from a previous bookkeeper, or from the owner doing it themselves, is one of the most common reasons for a clean-up. I'll find what's off, fix it, and give you a solid starting point.
Yes. Since everything runs through QuickBooks Online and secure file sharing, I work with small business owners nationwide, based here in Florida, the same way I'd work with someone across town.
